With India focused on aggressive targets for renewables, a report by the Ministry of Power foresaw coal-based power continuing to contribute a major share of energy generation over the next few decades. With this context, Chase India organized a panel discussion on " Energising India: The Road Ahead" in April 2018. The discussion saw participation from senior industry experts and policymakers, including Mr. Gurdeep Singh - CMD, National Thermal Power Corporation, Dr. Sajal Ghosh - Assistant Professor, Management Development Institute and Mr. Shubhranshu Patnaik - Partner - Deloitte & Touche India, amongst others. The event deliberated over the future roadmap for power generation, challenges and solutions for power generation from renewable sources vis-a-vis coal, the financial impact of key policies on project cost and power tariff and the potential for international collaboration around technology with an aim to decarbonise the power sector. The audience consisted of technocrats, senior industry members, think tanks, academicians, civil society organizations, entrepreneurs and start-ups.
