Financial Inclusion: Roadmap to Women’s Empowerment and Development
Women's empowerment has received its fair share of attention but has failed to make much headway beyond tokenism. Of late, even the economic priorities reflect this realignment in the development agenda, particularly more so following the Economic Survey 2018 highlighting the importance of empowering women to achieve higher growth. In this respect, Chase India organized a panel discussion on this theme in August 2018, seeking to broaden this topic by focusing on the linkages between financial inclusion and women's development and potential positive outcomes in the areas of health, nutrition and education. The discussion saw participation from a range of industry experts and policymakers, including Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Mr. Alok Kumar, Advisor, Niti Aayog, Mr. Arun Sharma, Director, DBT Mission and Mr. Prabhat Labh, CEO, Grameen Foundation, amongst others.
