Launch of Electronics and IT Standards Council

Chase India launched the Electronics & IT Standards Council in January 2016. The objective of the council was to ensure adoption of best practices in developing and mandating standards for electronics and information technology goods in the national interest. The Council was chaired by Arvind Gupta, Founder, Digital India Foundation & National Technology Head. Senior BJP officials from the Department of Consumer Affairs, Department of Electronics & IT and Bureau of Indian Standards had representation in the Council. Leading industry players like Dell, HP, Philips, start-up organizations like MoFirst, Holostiketc, academia like MDI, consumer groups like Consumer Voice and media organizations like TeleAnalysis were members of the Council. Post the event, a report titled ‘Policy Recommendations of Rethinking the CRO's’ was released by Chase India during the council launch, capturing the discussion. We also prepared position papers on Brand Owner Registration, best practices for Product Compliance Anti-counterfeiting & Consumer Advocacy and submitted them to various government departments. We are now working with the department for the necessary actions to implement the recommendations.
